Meet David Collinsworth, LPC, MA

Change your life by changing the way you think.

I believe meaningful change is possible—even when it doesn’t feel possible right now. That belief isn’t just something I learned in graduate school. It’s personal.

I came to counseling during a difficult season in my own life. I was depressed, felt hopeless, and struggled deeply with how I saw myself. Counseling became an important part of my healing journey. It helped me understand myself differently, recognize patterns in my thinking and behavior, and begin making meaningful changes in the way I lived.

My faith was also a significant part of that journey. I didn’t want to separate my spiritual life from my emotional and psychological health. I learned that my faith, values, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors could all be part of understanding who I was and who I wanted to become.

That experience continues to shape the way I approach counseling today.

What Counseling With Me Looks Like

I’m not interested in simply sitting back and asking, “How does that make you feel?”

I want to understand your story with you and support you in reaching your goals. Together, we’ll look at what’s working, what isn’t working, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

At times, I’ll challenge you. At other times, I’ll help you slow down and better understand what you’re experiencing. Counseling should be a place where you can be honest without feeling judged while also developing practical skills you can carry into everyday life.

Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can grow, heal, and change. As we better understand ourselves, we can begin making intentional choices that align our lives with our values and with the people we want to become.

Faith and Counseling

For people who choose to incorporate faith into counseling, I can integrate Christian beliefs and practices alongside clinical counseling skills. I often describe this integration as Faith Skills—practical ways of connecting psychological awareness, clinical skills, and spiritual growth with everyday life.

As a licensed professional counselor, I will always respect your values, your story, and the goals that bring you into counseling. I use research-based clinical approaches tailored to each client’s individual needs.

You don’t have to share any particular faith or belief system to learn, grow, and heal.

My Approach

My approach combines genuine conversation with evidence-based clinical practices. I draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gestalt therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.

Before entering the professional counseling field, I spent more than 20 years walking alongside people through relationship difficulties, grief, major transitions, questions of faith, and some of life’s hardest seasons. That experience continues to influence the compassion, curiosity, and hope I bring into the counseling room.

I believe we can become rooted in hope and grow in healing through understanding, compassion, and meaningful change.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I invite you to learn more about my counseling services or request an appointment.
